Jon and Peyton tells the story of the 'new pioneers' that are settling in rural Canada and, in the process, bringing new ideas and recipes to our cultural mosaic. Living on a farm near Naicam, Jon and Peyton raise organic vegetables, sheep and goats. They also have Saskatchewan's only wood-burning commercial oven. Each week they cook 500 loaves of bread to be sold at the Saskatoon Farmers' Market. During a recent visit to Canada, Jon's father is surprised by his son's choice to settle in. He also engages in an on-going debate with his daughter-in-law. She is a committed Organic farmer and he is a retired pesticide specialist. This debate sets the table for this episode about the changing world of agricultural production and the culture of slow food.
